Mall Walker Program

University Mall, along with the Governor's Council on Fitness, Fletcher Allen Health Care, the United Way of Chittenden County and Champlain Initiative, invite you to be a Mall Walker! Increase your physical fitness through walking in a safe, climate-controlled environment. Sign up for a FREE membership and you'll receive a membership packet containing a mileage log/rewards card and a brochure explaining the program and benefits. Every April, we host a Mall Walker Appreciation Day from 7:00am-8:30am where you can get a complimentary breakfast, listen to speakers, and pick up other health information. Walk 50 laps: Win a University Mall Pedometer
Walk 200 laps: Win a University Mall Magnet Clip
Walk 500 laps: Win a University Mall Travel Mug

Round 1:

Walk 50 laps: Win a University Mall Mini Flashlight

Round 2:

Walk 200 laps: Win a Yellow Drawstring Bag
Walk 500 laps: Win a Memo Cube

Studies show that walking briskly on a regular basis:

  • Improves circulation and helps your heart and lungs work more efficiently.
  • Burns calories to lose weight.
  • Eases tension and provides energy.
  • Be sure to stretch before walking, particularly the backs of your legs and thighs.
  • Move at a brisk pace for deep breathing and increased heart rate.
  • Don’t push yourself. If you are too breathless to hold a conversation, you’re walking too fast.
  • Be sure to “cool down” by finishing with a slower walk.
When you join the Mall Walker program, you will receive an ID card and a personal log to record your distance. Walkers receive fun rewards based on the number of laps completed. It’s fun and easy to accumulate miles while walking the path to fitness at University Mall.
